I'm alive!!!

Hi!
I've snuck onto the Bureau comps for a few minutes while we wait for everyone to get back from De-myst. My de-myst rocked. I got to go to ICRISAT. Loved it. More details later but just wanted everyone to know I'm alive and healthy and loving it here. Woot!!!

Arrival

Dear Friend of Marika,
Just a quick up date. The "geek princess" is indeed in Niger. The local PC rep was kind enough to send us a photo--living proof--that she and the others had indeed arrived none the less for wear. I am sure Marika provide a more comprehensive description but, dear reader, that journalistic update is six to nine weeks away.

I have been tasked by GPinN to send MP3 files to her. So, suggestions of latest and greatest would be appreciated, and I will make the effort to procure.

Heading Out

Hey Guys
It's my last night in Albuquerque :( I head out tomorrow morning for Philadelphia, stay there until Wednesday, then fly to Paris and thence to Niamey, then presumably by bus (donkey cart?) to Hamdallaye. The good news is I'm almost completely packed, and can even lift my bags all by myself. The bad news is I'm sure I'm forgetting something incredibly important that I'll only realize I'm missing once I'm in Niger.... typical paranoia as I go... Plus the whole 'what if I've forgotten how to speak French or grow plants" type of thing. Mostly, though, I'm just excited to be getting off on a new, hopefully life-shaping, adventure. For those of you who are fans of the snail mail, and we aren't talking racing snails here, as it can take up to a month for a letter go get delivered, I've posted my addy to the right.

Today's been pretty laid back after last night's party, where we managed to go through the ENTIRE red deck of apples to apples. I lost. Very sad. Darn you, Brian!!! At least we beat Derek for once... There was sushi and champagne and we stuffed ourselves with both. It was awesome. There may even be pictures around here somewhere...

He he. For those of you that don't know, I'm the one that needs to learn to take her glasses off in the photo. If any of you kiddos have migrated over here, a) shoo b) we are all over the legal drinking age - don't try this at home.

Yesterday was also pretty busy before the party - had coffee with Victoria and then went to tea at the Devonshire Adobe, now back under its (much better) original management. Nummy!

For now, though, it's off to "The Last Supper" as Ben put it - steak, greenbeans with pecans, baked sweet potato - the works. Arrrrrr num num ( <3 TJ) so I'm off. Phone's on until the 9th, theoretically, so feel free to call, though I may not answer if my head's being pumped full of info.
